Small battles based on the limited information coming out of Ukraine in 2022
A Ukrainian BMP is destroyed by a T72 tank of the 155th Separate Marine Brigade
Microbattle scenario based loosely on the battle of Moschun March 2022 ( as reported by CNN and others)
Situation end of turn 1 ( using’ No End in Sight’ skirmish rules) as elements of the 155th Separate Marine Brigade clash with the Ukrainian 72nd Mechanised Brigade in and around Moschun , north-west of Kiev. Ukrainian troops had destroyed the bridge across the Irpin river to the west of the village, but Russian forces subsequently installed a pontoon bridge a few hundred metres north by which they attacked.
A successful Russian attack helicopter strike killed a Javelin ATGM team which was dug in alongside other members of first company (2nd Battalion, 72nd Mech Brigade) on the edge of the forest on the eastern side of Moschun. All units of the company displayed on the map have separate radio sets except the fire team in hex 0709. The fireteam and machinegun team in hex 0306 are concealed in rubble and the 3 armoured vehicles have emerged from their camouflaged positions which were also at the edge of the forest.
The entry points and leadership activations of the Russian units were determined by dice rolls, moderated by practical routes for AFCs and the fact that some infantry units had likely dismounted before reaching the western edge of the village shown on the above map. It was deemed important that the north south forest road be shown on the game map.
