Micro battlefields Introducing scenarios for platoon level skirmishes ideal for quick tabletop battles in the mechanized age. Each scenario comes with a map showing clearly marked terrain features and other scenario markers based on hexes each representing 60 metres. Play tested using 10mm figures on a table just over 3’ by 3’ these scenarios are designed for a battle space that represents 600 by 600 metres. A little more table space can accommodate 15mm figures, even 1/76th. So far the scenarios are from historical skirmishes in the 21st century. The maps and Orders of Battles are accurate as abstracted down to platoon level from engagements that were often fought at company level. In some cases terrain features are reduced or abstracted a little so as to provide a fairly simple battlescape providing interest to wargamers while being faithful enough to historical landscapes. Alternative AFV OOBs are suggested without affecting the balance of firepower ( you dont have to own models of every vehicle of the last few decades). Micro battlefields prefers a hybrid ruleset of Company Commander, Fireteam Modern, Team Yankee with quite a few house rules. These scenarios should work with many platoon or company level modern era rule sets. Expand or compress the 60 metre hex size to suit the ruleset you prefer. Micro battlefields are happy to announce the release of a scenario based on one of our favorite Cold War and future war fictional accounts (see gallery and follow link to orders page for more info). Some of the best accounts are the source battles for upcoming scenarios : Red Army, Combat Team,Red Phoenix Rising, Armored Corps, First Clash, Red Storm Rising, and The Third World War; the untold stories. Micro battlefields will also publish some 20th century historical scenarios, though probably not from WW2 for which we recommend ‘Tigers at Minsk’. |
